The eternal life described in the Bible is not merely a life that extends forever it is a life continuously in the presence of God. Jesus Christ, as an extension of God, came to save us from destruction and carry us forward as children of God. This miraculous gift is available to all who place their faith in Jesus.
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3
We come to know God through our association with Jesus and thereby receive the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us forward. It is by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus, that our Salvation has been made possible. It is then by the Holy Spirit, that we are connected to God eternally.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14
As followers of Jesus, we await the day of his return. Those who have turned their back on God and walked away from the gift of eternal life, will mourn the day when Christ returns and they discover the error in their ways. For those of us who have trusted Jesus, it will be a glorious day indeed.
“And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.” Matthew 24:30
I believe in God our Father. I believe in Christ the Son. I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe Jesus will return, not only for the living but also for those believers who have since died. I believe fully and completely in the name of Jesus.
