The Power of Jesus

When we let go of our pride, fall to our knees, and cry out to Jesus sincerely acknowledging his power to overcome – anything can happen.

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”  Colossians 3:16 (NASB)

Let’s Pray Together

Heavenly Father, we stand in your presence in awe of your awesome power and love.  We seek that which is your will in our lives and look forward to the return of your Son Jesus Christ.  Please Father, wrap your arms around each of us and provide for us all of our needs.  Forgive us Father, for all of our mistakes and failures in our pursuit of righteousness.  Develop in us the ability to also forgive those who disrupt our lives.  Open our eyes Father, to the enemy who is in pursuit of our souls.  Let us see clearly the evil trying to control our lives so that we can avoid destruction.  We offer this prayer in the Holy name of Jesus.  Amen.

The Power of Jesus

The apostle Paul, who wrote much of the New Testament, is arguably the strongest witness for Christ who ever lived.  In spite of Paul’s tremendous faith, he still suffered from some kind of weakness he labeled a thorn in his flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7) which he asked God to remove to no avail.  The Bible doesn’t tell us precisely what it was that troubled the apostle Paul, but we are told by Paul that he saw his weakness as a blessing in disguise, because of something the Lord told him.

“And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”  2 Corinthians 12:9 (NASB)

Regardless of how difficult things had become as a result of Paul’s weakness, he gloried in the understanding that God’s grace was sufficient.  It is when we as believers admit we are nothing without God, that his power is able to take root completely in our heart.  Indeed, the ultimate expression of power in weakness is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who suffered and died on the cross on our behalf only to demonstrate his awesome power by conquering death and thereby supplying our eternal salvation.

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”  Ephesians 3:14-19 (NASB)

Praise God for sending his Son!  Our faith in Jesus is rewarded by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit through which we are permanently connected to the power of Jesus.  This is our resurrection power.  We are no longer bound by darkness.  We now walk in the light of Jesus.

Resurrection Power – Chris Tomlin

You called me from the grave by name

You called me out of all my shame

I see the old has passed away

The new has come!

Now I have resurrection power

Living on the inside

Jesus, You have given us freedom

No longer bound by sin and darkness

Living in the light of Your goodness

You have given us freedom

That I’m dressed in Your royalty

Your Holy Spirit lives in me

And I see my past has been redeemed

The new has come!

Now I have resurrection power

Living on the inside

Jesus, You have given us freedom

I’m no longer bound by sin and darkness

Living in the light of Your goodness

You have given us freedom

Freedom, You have given us freedom

You have given us freedom, my chains are gone!

Freedom, You have given us freedom

You have given us freedom, hallelujah!

Freedom, You have given us freedom

You have given us freedom, my chains are gone oh o oh

Freedom, You have given us freedom

You have given us freedom, hallelujah!

Now I have resurrection power

Living on the inside

Now, I’m no longer bound by sin and darkness

Living in the light of Your goodness

You have given us freedom!

Now I have resurrection power

Living on the inside

Jesus, You have given us freedom

Now, I’m no longer bound by sin and darkness

Living in the light of Your goodness

You have given us freedom! (You set us free)

I have resurrection power (you set us free)

Living on the inside

Living on the inside! (You set us free)

No longer bound by sin and darkness (you set us free)

You have given us freedom

You have given us freedom!

The Power of Jesus in Your Life

It’s not uncommon for believers to have something hindering their walk with Jesus.  It could be something as devastating as a debilitating addiction or something as simple as a tendency to procrastinate.  Getting beyond these road blocks in our own power may be difficult if not impossible.  As the apostle Paul points out, it is that weakness that constantly pushes us toward a more sincere dependency on Jesus.  The power to overcome anything and everything is in the hands of Jesus.

In the book of Acts, Paul and his companion Silas were beaten, thrown in prison, and shackled with chains for preaching the gospel.  It looked like their ministry had come to an end.  Their lives were now in jeopardy.  The death penalty for preaching the gospel was not at all uncommon.  This was a major hindrance; however Jesus demonstrated his power to overcome.

“But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.”  Acts 16:25-26 (NASB)

No matter what your hindrance is, God has the power to break those chains that bind you and set you free.  When we let go of our pride, fall to our knees, and cry out to Jesus sincerely acknowledging his power to overcome – anything can happen.

Break Every Chain – Tasha Cobbs

There is power in the name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

There is power in the name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus

There is power in the name of Jesus

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

Break every chain, to break every chain, break every chain

There’s an army rising up

There’s an army rising up

There’s an army rising up

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

There’s an army rising up

There’s an army rising up

There’s an army rising up

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

I hear the chains falling

The Power of Jesus is in Us

Those of us who have expressed our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus, thereby turning from our sin and seeking to follow his teachings, are blessed with the Holy Spirit taking up residence in our heart.

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts 2:38 (NASB)

We are saved by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus and when we are baptized we are making an outward profession of that inward transformation.  Through this transformation we are given access to the power of Jesus.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”  Acts 1:8 (NASB)

Stop and think about that for a minute.  The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now living inside of us!  We have access to that kind of power; however, our ability to make full use of that power is solely dependent on our relationship with Jesus.  As believers, we are working together with Jesus to achieve our life’s purpose.  Anything and everything is possible, thanks to the greatness of our God.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21 (NASB)

Greatness Of Our God – Newsboys

O-oh

O-o-oh

From the dawn of Creation

This world has been cryin’ out for hope

For a hero to save us

We long for the supernatural

But there is only one God who can save the day

So clear the stage, prepare the way

‘Cause Heaven and Earth are singing

Glory, hallelujah, let the whole world see

The greatness of our God

In awesome wonder, He reigns forever

We know the greatness of our God

His pow’r is endless, He lives within us

We know the greatness of our God… (Whoa-oa-oa-oa)

The greatness of our God

There’s no one above Him

Only our Savior wears the crown

There’s none who can stop Him

Not even the grave could hold Him down

But there is only one King who can save the day

So clear the stage, prepare the way

‘Cause Heaven and Earth are singin’

Glory, hallelujah, let the whole world see

The greatness of our God

In awesome wonder, He reigns forever

We know the greatness of our God

His pow’r is endless, He lives within us

We know the greatness of our God… (Whoa-oa-oa-oa)

The greatness of our God… (Whoa-oa-oa-oa)

The greatness of our God

We stand in awe and wonder

All the honor is Yours (Aw yeah)

We stand in awe and wonder

All the honor is Yours, Jesus

We stand in awe and wonder

Awe and wonder

The greatness of our God

In awesome wonder, He reigns forever

We know (We know) the greatness of our God

His power is endless, He lives within us

We know (We know) the greatness of our God… (Yeah, yeah, whoa-oa-oa-oa)

The greatness of our God…

Oh, Lord, You’re great, oh, God, You’re great, yea-ea-ea-eah

The greatness of our God… (O-o-o-oh)

Holy is our God

The greatness of our God
