Step Four – I need God

Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are on a path to total victory.  Death is no longer an option – eternal life with Jesus is guaranteed.  Unfortunately, we still must travel through this life in a world filled with the devil’s schemes.  Careful study of the Word of God, along with regular fellowship with other believers, will provide you strength to overcome the enemy’s attacks.  If you’re saying to yourself, “I need God to help me fight this battle,” you’re on the right path – you do need God and He’s right there with you at this very moment.

I Need God to Love Me

You can rest assured that God loves you.  We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).  The sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us is the greatest of all demonstrations of love (John 15:13).  God’s love for us is overwhelming and never ending (Psalm 136:3).

I Need God to Speak to Me

God speaks to you each and every day.  He speaks through the words of the Bible.  He speaks through your thoughts as you pray.  He speaks to you through your circumstance – where you are in your life at this moment is God telling you something – listen carefully.  God speaks to you through other believers and ministry leaders.  Test everything you hear.  Wait to hear from more than one source – when you’re sure it’s God’s voice you’re responding to – take action.

I Need God to Challenge Me

If you’re listening carefully to God, He will likely point you in a new direction.  It’s time to leave your old self behind and step out in faith to God’s challenge.  We all have limitations as to what we are able to accomplish, but God has no limitations.  If God has called you to a task that you are unsure of, let go of your apprehension and allow God to work through you with His ultimate power.

I Need God to Support Me

When you are working on a task given to you by God, you have His support.  You know you are working for God when that task was not of your own design.  You don’t need to brainstorm a list of things you’re going to do for God.  He will reveal His needs to you.  Look around, see where God is working in and around your life, and join Him there.

I Need God Working with Me

When you join God in work that you can clearly see is His doing, you can be sure He is there working with you.  When you are serving others, you are serving God and He will be working with you.  When you are serving yourself, or serving some cause other than that which glorifies God, you are surely traveling alone.  Stay focused on Him and He will continue working with you.

I Need God to Point the Way

God’s plans get results.  When you see positive fruit growing out of your efforts, you can be sure you are traveling God’s path.  Some things take longer than others to mature; nevertheless, there will be clear signs of growth.  Plant the seeds, water, nurture, provide sunlight – if nothing grows you are moving in the wrong direction.

I Need God to Make Himself Real to Me

When you work on God’s behalf, He will be made real to you as results that are clearly beyond your efforts began to flourish.  God’s awesome power is revealed in those unexpected moments of abundance that could happen by no other means.  There is no coincidence when you’re working for God – there is only the miraculous.  Don’t overlook God’s presence in every day events by dismissing them as random chance.  If you are seeking God’s will in all that you do, He will take notice and make himself known to you.
