As followers of Jesus, we have been set free from the dominance of our selfish human nature and delivered as new-born children of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are no longer slaves to our worldly desire. We are now members of one family, watched over day and night by our loving Father.
“For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.” Romans 8:15-16
By the grace of God, our faith in Jesus, demonstrated by our devotion to His teaching, we are adopted into the family of God. Our willingness to trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior is all that’s required to receive this enormous blessing.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
As members of God’s spiritual family, we become strangers to the world. As a result, it is our mission to introduce the world to Jesus. God has an overwhelming abundance of love that He is ready to share and it’s up to the followers of Jesus to guide the lost toward this truth.
“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” 1 John 3:1
As children of God, we are guided and protected by the Holy Spirit. As children of God we are blessed by our Salvation and the gift of eternal life. As children of God, we have been delivered from our enemies and all our fears have been washed away. We are resting now in the loving arms of God.
