Warning: The world we live in is actively trying to push us away from God. We can’t let that happen. We need to stand strong. We need to keep our eyes focused on Jesus – our Savior – Our Lord.
“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.” Hebrews 1:1-2
God made the universe through Jesus. Those who spent time with Jesus, during his time here on earth, were living in the presence of the awesome power of God. The New Testament is a record of this extraordinary event. When we read the New Testament, God is speaking to us through the teachings of Jesus.
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3
Jesus is exactly the same as God! Jesus radiates God’s glory! There is nothing superior to Jesus. Our relationship with Jesus is the most important aspect of our lives.
“And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” Hebrews 1:6
We are to worship Jesus just as the angels in heaven worship Jesus. Jesus is our King. Jesus is the head of the church that is comprised of all believers. Jesus is the only pathway to eternal life. Jesus is the mediator between us and God. Jesus is the light of the world and the Good Shepard that will guide us into eternity.
“We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Hebrews 2:1
We have an enemy in this world that is trying to clutter our minds and lives with misdirection and confusion. As a result, some believers drift away from their faith and lose sight of the clear teachings of Jesus. We can’t let this happen! We can’t allow our walk with Jesus to be rendered secondary to our daily routine. Our walk with Jesus has to remain first in our lives. We need to wake up each day praising God for sending His Son. We need to look to Jesus for direction in everything we do.
Our salvation renders us children of God. We have been born again into the family of God.
“Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.” Hebrews 2:11
Our membership in the family of God was made possible by the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. It is the devil’s curse that has taken away our ability to live eternally with God. It is with great humility the Son of God came to earth to return our ability to live forever with Jesus.
“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” Hebrews 2:14-15
By taking on flesh and bones, Jesus was able to die on the cross once and for all so that we might live. By the grace of God, we have been set free through the sacrifice of Jesus and our faith in Him.
“For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17
As a result of His human experience, Jesus is able to fully understand our temptation and guide us away from evil through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
“Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” Hebrews 2:18
When we placed our faith in Jesus, we became connected to God in an extraordinary way. We have been filled with God’s love and the continuous presence of the Holy Spirit. When we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, we are directed to share God’s love at every opportunity. The Word of God is the tool we use to destroy the enemy’s distractions. The awesome power of God is available to us through our relationship with Jesus. Our relationship with Jesus is the most important aspect of our lives. Praise His Holy name. Praise Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
