God’s Promises

The world we live in is filled with uncertainty.  Will we remain healthy?  Is our job secure?  Will the government make life better or worse?  Will we have enough money for the future?  What unexpected circumstance will tomorrow bring?  The amount of uncertainty in our lives is enormous. We do our best to make thoughtful plans that account for all the possibilities, but in the end, nothing is certain; everything is subject to change.

On the other hand, God’s promises are absolutely unchangeable.  Without question, we can depend on the promises of God completely and without reservation.  The promises of God are not subject to change.  When we place our trust in God, we have a constant source of spiritual energy that guides, supports, and protects us every hour of every day.  Our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus connects us to the promises of God directly through the Holy Spirit living inside of every believer.  We have been blessed with the ability to know and enjoy God’s presence in a personal way.

One Thing We Can Count On

God is the one thing we can count on without any hesitation.  Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”  (Hebrews 10:23)  God will never let us down.  We connect with God today primarily through His Word and through prayer; listening carefully for the nudging of the Holy Spirit.  The more we study the Bible alone or along with a trusted teacher, the more we will be able to endure the uncertainty of the world we live in.  This world wants us to trust in our bank account, but as followers of Jesus, our trust needs to reside in the promises of God.  Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you.”  (Hebrews 13:5)  God will always be with us.

God Will Always Be With Us

God promised to never leave us, He promised eternal life to those who have trusted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, He promised the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and He has promised that Jesus will return for us one day.  The Bible includes thousands of promises made by God, some for specific people and others applicable to all believers.  We lay claim to those promises when we prayerfully consider the Word of God guided by the Holy Spirit.  There is no substitute for careful study of the Bible.  “All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.”  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)  The best way to discover God’s specific promises for your life is through a personal study of the Bible.

Consider the promises of God to be your firm foundation.  Trust God to deliver your every need exactly when you need it and at precisely the moment that He determines is the most beneficial to your eternal existence.  Patiently wait for Him to fulfill his promises on His schedule and not your own.  Search the Word of God for guidance, and listen carefully to the voice of the Holy Spirit pointing you in the direction of God’s plan for your life.  There is no better way to conquer the uncertainty of this world than to place you faith and trust in the promises of God.
