You are exactly the same as the person next to you – no matter who that is.

“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple” Mal 3:1

Details of the ministry of Jesus were known hundreds of years before the events unfolded.

“I the Lord do not change” Mal 3:6

The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament.

“You will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not” Mal 3:18

God will one day completely separate the righteous from those who are evil.

“All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire” Mal 4:1

God will one day completely destroy those who are evil.

The New Testament

Matthew

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” Matt 1:21

Jesus came to save us from our sin and He will come again to destroy the evil in this world.

“They saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him” Matt 2:11

The divine nature of the baby Jesus was evident from the beginning.

“John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” Matt 3:1-2

God wants us to turn away from sin and seek love.

“Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only” Matt 4:10

Satan has absolutely no power over Jesus.

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” Matt 5:5

Following Jesus is an act of submission not aggression.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” Matt 5:8

The true understanding of God is in your heart not your mind.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” Matt 5:9

Love is not divisive.

“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven” Matt 5:12

You can laugh at hardship when you know your reward is spectacular.

“You are the light of the world” Matt 5:14

Followers of Jesus should reflect His radiant glory.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” Matt 5:16

Make those around you hunger for a relationship with Jesus like yours.

“If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles” Matt 5:41

You disarm your enemies when you submit to them willingly.

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them” Matt 6:1

Serve others with sincere love seeking nothing in return.

“When you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do” Matt 6:2

Those who give to be noticed, receive no reward from God.

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” Matt 6:34

You may not see tomorrow so take care of today.

“Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” Matt 7:14

Anyone who wants to can find the way to eternal life – still many never will.

“What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” Matt 8:27

Jesus demonstrated awesome power.

“Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick” Matt 9:12

If you want to be like Jesus look for those in need.

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves” Matt 10:16 #Jesus

Your connection to Jesus makes you smarter than this world.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” Matt 11:28

The struggles of this world can be overcome with Jesus.

“Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother” Matt 12:50

Followers of Jesus Christ are a family.

“The enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels” Matt 13:39

The devil is constantly planting seeds of destruction.

“The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous” Matt 13:49

In the end, good guys and bad guys will be clearly identified.

“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” Matt 16:26

The man who has everything has nothing without God.

“The Son of Man is going to come… he will reward each person according to what they have done” Matt 16:27

God is aware of your every good deed.

“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven” Matt 19:21

Don’t have a garage sale – give it all away.

“The greatest among you will be your servant” Matt 23:11

When your heart only wants to serve you have found God.

“Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people” Matt 24:11

Some preachers have ulterior motives – they are not from God.

“This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” Matt 24:14

The Internet makes it possible to share your faith with the whole world.

“As lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man” Matt 24:27

When Jesus comes again it will be a giant wake-up call for those who have gone the other way.

“The peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory” Matt 24:30

Those who have ignored the Gospel will be in deep trouble when Jesus returns.

“Go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead” Matt 28:7

The risen Lord was witness by hundreds.

“When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted” Matt 28:17

Even some who witnessed the risen Lord had doubts.

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matt 28:19

The church has an obligation to share the Gospel around the world.

Mark

“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:15

Repent.  Turn from your sin.  Go and sin no more.  Follow Jesus and not this world.

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” Mark 1:17

Tell someone about Jesus. Show someone where to learn more about Jesus. Help someone move closer to Jesus.

“Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons” Mark 1:34

Jesus did amazing things during His ministry, proving Him to be the Son of God.

“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you” Mark 5:19

Though we have not encountered Jesus face-to-face we have encountered Him heart-to-heart.

“He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering” Mark 5:34

Your faith plugs you into the power of God.

“He said to her, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!” Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk” Mark 5:41-42

The miracles of Jesus demonstrate his deity.

“When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed” Mark 6:2

Imagine what it would be like to be taught the scripture by Jesus.

“Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them” Mark 7:15

Your actions define your relationship with Jesus.

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Mark 8:29

There is nothing more important than knowing Jesus.

“Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it” Mark 8:35

Hate your life in this world.  Cherish the reservation you have in the new world.

“You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you?” Mark 9:19

Jesus will give you many opportunities to know Him, but He has a limit.

“The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise” Mark 9:31

Jesus was well aware of the fate that was before Him.

“Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all” Mark 9:35

Great leaders serve those they lead.

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it” Mark 10:15

Let go of all you doubts, questions and concerns:  Simply believe.

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God” Mark 10:25

The more money you have the harder it is to separate yourself from this world and follow Jesus.

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God” Mark 10:27

God can accomplish anything.

“They will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him” Mark 10:33-34

Jesus suffered greatly on our behalf.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” Mark 10:45

If we spend our whole life in service to God we will not even come close to what Jesus did for us.

“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road” Mark 10:52

Your faith in Jesus Christ will save your life.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” Mark 12:30

Loving God is everything.

“Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

The Bible is about a thousand pages that all boils down to this:  Love God.  Love your neighbor.

“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory” Mark 13:26

No one is going to miss the return of Jesus.

“Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come” Mark 13:33

If you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior you’re ready for His return any time.

“And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get” Mark 15:24

Jesus was treated like an ordinary criminal when He was nailed to the cross.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!” Mark 16:6

Jesus rose from death just as predicted hundreds of years earlier.

“He rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen” Mark 16:14

Some will turn away from Jesus even though they know the truth.

“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God” Mark 16:19

Jesus is in heaven speaking with God on our behalf.

The ministry of Jesus only lasted about three years.

“There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed; nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” Luke 8:17

One day the details of God’s plan will become clear.

There are many lost searching for God but few believers take the time to help bring them to Jesus.

Following the Word of God is an easy way to improve your life.

God is all you need.  Your longing for more comes from the enemy.

“Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters” Rom 14:1

The details of your faith are not as important as love for one another.

“So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” Rom 14:12

Everyone would love to come face-to-face with God and everyone will one day.

“Let us stop passing judgment on one another” Rom 14:13

I don’t know why you do what you do but I hope you know.

“Make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister” Rom 14:13

Protect those around you from difficulties you have the power to overcome.

“I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself” Rom 14:14

You can do absolutely anything if love is your motive.

“Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil” Rom 14:16

The devil wants the world to believe that following God is a life of restriction but those who believe know it’s a life of abundance.

“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification” Rom 14:19

There’s always common ground from which to build a relationship.

“We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves” Rom 15:1

You may be able to handle it but someone else may not; consider that someone else first.

“Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us” Rom 15:4

The Old Testament of the Bible is as important as the New Testament.

“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God” Rom 15:7

We are all different.  That’s a beautiful thing.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him” Rom 15:13

The closer you get to God the more you are filled with His love.

“I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God” Rom 15:17

There’s nothing more important in your life than serving God.

“Watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned” Rom 16:17

The details of when, where, why, and how we love are not that important; it’s simply important that we do it.

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you” Rom 16:20

In the end the devil loses.

1 Corinthians

“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” 1 Cor 1:18

Unbelievers can’t understand what believers have experienced.

“Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” 1 Cor 1:20

No one in this world knows what God knows.

“Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified” 1 Cor 1:22-23

Eternal life is found only in Jesus Christ.

“The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength” 1 Cor 1:25

Great is the greatness of God.

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” 1 Cor 3:16

When you follow Jesus, God is always with you.  Honor Him.

“If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise” 1 Cor 3:18

Empty your ego and allow God to mold you.

“I have the right to do anything,” you say – but not everything is beneficial” 1 Cor 6:12

Following Jesus is not about restriction; it’s about wisdom and understanding.

“I have the right to do anything” – but I will not be mastered by anything” 1 Cor 6:12

Other than God, there should be nothing you can’t live without.

“Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit” 1 Cor 6:17

Believers are all connected together with God.

“You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” 1 Cor 6:20

Present yourself in a way that honors God.

“Each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that” 1 Cor 7:7

Discover your gift from God and use it to His glory.

“Run in such a way as to get the prize” 1 Cor 9:24

Aggressively pursue any task God has placed before you.

“God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear” 1 Cor 10:13

God is with you in all situations; look for Him and trust Him.

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” 1 Cor 10:31

Consider every step you take to be in service to God.

“The body is not made up of one part but of many” 1 Cor 12:14

Every believer is needed within the body of Christ for their specific talent.

“God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be” 1 Cor 12:18

God is aware of who you are and what you are doing with your life.  He wants to help you take the next step.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” 1 Cor 12:27

Followers of Jesus Christ should all be moving in the same direction.

“If I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing” 1 Cor 13:2

Love is everything.  Anything without love is nothing.

“If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing” 1 Cor 13:3

Doing good to be noticed is not doing good at all.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud” 1 Cor 13:4

Love is the natural ingredient of all things good.

“Love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs” 1 Cor 13:5

Sincere love cannot be damaged and does no damage.

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth” 1 Cor 13:6

The darkness is full of lust and the light is full of love.

“Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” 1 Cor 13:7

Those who truly love you are those you can truly count on.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor 13:13

Have faith in Jesus Christ.  Hope that He returns soon.  Love God with all your heart.

“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character” 1 Cor 15:33

If you stay too long in the darkness your light will start to dim.

“Just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man” 1 Cor 15:49

You are a spirit inside an earthly body.

“Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye” 1 Cor 15:51-52

When Jesus returns, your earthly body will be left behind.

“Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” 1 Cor 15:58

Everything you do for God will be repaid when Jesus returns.

2 Corinthians

Jesus sets you free.  You are no longer a slave to sin.  You are forgiven.

“For we live by faith, not by sight” 2 Cor 5:7

Following Jesus is a process of the heart not the brain.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Cor 5:17

Following Jesus changes you completely.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Cor 5:21

Jesus makes it possible for us to truly know God.

Focus your life on taking care of others and you will be taken care of as well.

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” 2 Cor 9:6

Make a full effort and you will receive a full reward.

“Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” 2 Cor 11:14

The devil will pretend to be everything you want him to be.

“Encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you” 2 Cor 13:11

When things go wrong make them right – not worse.

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” 2 Cor 13:14

You know the Father through the Son and are one with them through the Holy Spirit.

God’s Old Testament law was a mirror that reflected back our need for a Savior.

The grace of God is not a blank check it’s an awesome responsibility.

Respond in every situation with love.

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” Galatians 5:22-23

You can never over indulge in love, kindness, or gentleness.

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit” Galatians 5:25

The Holy Spirit is pulling you toward God and this world is pushing you in the opposite direction.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2

Saying I will pray for you is nice, but offering to help is much better.

Your eternal existence is only possible through Jesus Christ.

“Let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity” Hebrews 6:1

Study your Bible daily and find a teacher that will challenge you to go deeper.

Our faith moves us closer to God.

Nothing can sever the bond believers have with God.

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together” Hebrews 10:24-25

Work together with other believers to spread God’s love.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded” Hebrews 10:35

Stand boldly in your faith and great things will happen.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” Hebrews 11:1

We don’t need scientific evidence to know God is working in our lives.

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command” Hebrews 11:3

When I walk into the wilderness I see God all around me.

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family” Hebrews 11:7

God has given us all fair warning.

There is no other way to achieve perfection before God other than through our Savior Jesus Christ.

If God believes I need more in my life He’ll find a way to get it to me.

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith” Hebrews 13:7

The best thing you can do for those who brought you to Christ is share that knowledge with others.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” Hebrews 13:8

The God of the Old Testament is the very same God of the New Testament.  Nothing has changed.

“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come” Hebrews 13:14

When Jesus returns He will created for us a new heaven and a new earth.  What a glorious day that will be.
