7 Thoughts from the Bible

A careful reading of the Bible provides us with some spiritual common sense that will help us stay focused on God and therefore filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.  The world we live in is often difficult and filled with the enemy’s manipulation and misdirection.  The Bible is our guide around the enemy’s distractions and a tool that keeps us spiritual healthy.

Our primary goal is to seek to achieve the same attitude toward others that Jesus demonstrated during his ministry here on earth.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you”  Ephesians 4:32

When we placed our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our misdeeds were forgiven and we became treasured children of God.  Our mission now is to share that same forgiving attitude with those people we encounter throughout our lives.

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children”  Ephesians 5:1

Even the most difficult people in our lives need to be treated with love and compassion as we pray for them to one day see the error in their ways and seek to know Jesus.  It is our loving spirit that will help unbelievers experience the presence of God and desire a relationship with Him.

“Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God”  Ephesians 5:2

Every moment of our lives expressed in love is a direct connection to God.  Without love, our lives are empty and meaningless.

Nevertheless, we can’t allow the enemy the opportunity to take advantage of our loving spirit through deception.  The enemy will promise us anything to turn our hearts away from God.  Prayerful discernment is critical to our spiritual well-being.

“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient”  Ephesians 5:6

Sometimes things that seem to be pointed in the right direction are in fact a trap pulling us down a dark path.  When we constantly nourish ourselves with the Word of God, it becomes near impossible for evil to lead us astray.

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them”  Ephesians 5:11

The Word of God will help us identify and confront evil with truth.  Darkness is exposed with light.  Continuous study of the Bible will keep our hearts healthy and our minds sharp.

“Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise”  Ephesians 5:15

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can easily outsmart the enemy.  When we walk with love in our heart and continuously seek the will of God in our life, we are on solid ground.

“Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is”  Ephesians 5:17

The Bible is not just a book of stories; it is the power that propels our spirit into the kingdom of God.  The Bible is our spiritual fuel source.  Our success in this world is completely dependent on keeping our spiritual tank full by constantly filling our hearts with the Word of God.
